Detecting Atmospheric Gravity Waves the Not So EZIE Way: A Novel Method to Detect Atmospheric Gravity Waves by Proxy of the Zeeman Effect
Between the months of February and May, EZIE made collocated measurements with the NASA Atmospheric Wave Experiment (AWE) mission. AWE was designed to capture the mesospheric gravity waves at ~90 km altitude in two dimensions. EZIE, however, is able to capture the temperature profiles of the atmosphere along the lines of sight. These profiles are susceptible to gravity wave fluctuations. This project aims to correlate the waves measured with AWE and EZIE.
