Applying Fractional Calculus to Autonomous Control of Flight Systems
A common controller used in many industries is a PID controller (proportional, integral, and derivative controller). When using these controllers for flight systems, the integral and derivative terms are normally of first order (i.e. you take the 1st derivative or 1st integral through the 'I' and 'D' terms). The purpose of the is project is to explore if it's possible to instead take the fractional (non-integer) order integral and derivative for a PID controller.
