Light Beneath the Waves: Development of an Underwater Laser Scanning System

The project's purpose was to create an underwater laser system to enhance autonomy and detailed imaging. The objectives were to revive autonomous underwater drone that had fallen into disuse; fabricate a frame to house a laser and camera underwater; test the system in a 45,000-gallon capacity tank; and develop and use a Python script to overlay images of laser scans of the bottom of a test tank containing various objects. The project successfully met all objectives.
